Training groups or partners around Hinesville/Savannah GA

Postby Michael Kelly » Wed May 11, 2011 11:59 am

I posted awhile back looking for people to train with and a place to learn with little luck... Now that I'm down in Ft. Stewart I figured I'd try again. So does anyone know of any training groups in or around the Ft. Stewart/Hinesville/Savannah area?

You can get training in Atlanta (the ARMA Director is located there) and use their advice to help you start a study group in your local area. I would highly recommend taking advantage of that opportunity.

Here is a Training Partner Finder listing the majority of groups.

There are 4 clubs all about 4 hrs from you. I think ARMA probably has the most developed distance learning curriculum, which is one of the resasons I expressed an interest in ARMA, but SSG has a program set up (I've heard it's good, though have no experience with it) and MFFG is setting one up.

All in all, it's a good time to get involved in the Historic European Martial Arts! The wealth of available information and serious practitioners today is fantastic! I'd get in contact with all the clubs and see what they can do to help you out. At least one is bound to have members closer to you, which would make training and setting up a study group much easier.

Hello Michael,

My name is Joey Marmorato and I'm the Study Group Coordinator for the Atlanta study group. As Stacy said, our director lives in the metro area, but we also have an active study group here.

Naturally, I think ARMA is a much better option than any alternative posited above. There is a well-developed group here with the fortune of having the most direct access to John Clements compared to all ARMA members. You are welcome to come meet with us if you are truly interested. I realize it's a long way, but there is always the option of beginning a study group in Savannah. With an established group and the director so closed by, you will have many tools at your disposal to begin training.

I will send you a private message through this forum with an email address where you can contact me. Hopefully we can arrange something soon.

Look forward to meeting you!

Joey
