Postby Enthused Dragon » Tue Nov 29, 2011 9:09 am

Is there anyone near Someset West in South Africa that I can Sparr with?
I'm not a member yet but first want to know if there's someone here who does this. I want to start realy badly but none of my friends wants to. And the training equipment is extremely hard to comeby in South Africa.

Can any one help?

First of all, please edit your username in your profile to your real first and last name in accordance with our forum rules.

I don't think we have anyone else in South Africa yet, but it has to start with somebody. If your friends aren't interested, perhaps you can find others who are. If you search this forum a bit you'll find lots of advice on how to recruit members and start a study group, and we're happy to answer questions. As for equipment, look up the waster manufacturers on our links page and email them to see if any will ship to South Africa. You'll have to check your local laws on metal blunts, but you should be able to use wooden swords at least to get started. A fencing mask for face protection and gloves such as lacrosse or motocross gloves are also recommended for training with a partner once you have one and should be available in your country.
