How long were langets?

Postby Sal Bertucci » Sun Jan 08, 2012 5:00 pm

So I've been thinking about polearmes, and was thinking about using them against steel trainers. I recognized that the steel would begin to really mess up the shaft, and remembered that was the reason why they used langets in the first place.

That being said: how long were they historically? Obviously some were only a foot or two, but did others go the full length of the shaft? Halfway?

Thanks!
