Making a Targe

Postby Lark » Sat Oct 06, 2012 4:49 am

I was wondering if anyone has a good guide or reference to making a Highland Targe? Or if they know a retailer for the same? I would really rather learn how to build my own and make it but in the final instance I would consider buying one.

Either an online guide or a book would be fine, although if there are online guides or groups for smiths, armourers or reproduction works I'd like to look at them too.

Cheers guys, I recently joined, today in fact, and hail from the north coast of Ireland, I've visited the site for what feels like a long time but dont know if there is an introduce yourself thread or subforum. Or if I have posted this in the correct place either. There does not appear to anything like the ARMA group in my area, which is a shame, I really love the website you all have created here.

First, you are going to be asked by the Webmaster to change your user name to your real name. :)

This guy makes some fantastic targes and he's just across the pond from you.

Here is a blog site for a simple do it yourself.

The majority of the material for Scottish Highland Broadsword is just outside of what is in the ARMA curriculum. Incidentally, it is also my favorite weapon and era. You might want to check out the Cateran Society as well.
