The Guilds annual seminar has been held at The Royal Armouries since 2001. We are glad to continue our relationship with The Armouries. The museum provides a great venue for our seminar, and allows Guild members, members of other groups and those new to the subject to come and meet, train and enjoy the facilities of this wonderful collection
The weekend is scheduled to include talks, demonstrations, training and handling sessions.
Planned talks are,
‘The Medieval Sword’ – Ewart Oakeshott memorial presentation.
Graeme Rimer Head of Collections, The Royal Armouries. The talk will cover the medieval sword and will include a handling session of some of the medieval swords from the collection of Guild Honoured Member, Ewart Oakeshott.
‘We know that the Vikings were excellent fighters, but how did they learn
there fighting-style and how did it actually look like?’ Lecture and demonstrations by Lars Magnar Enoksen - who is in charge of both the theoretical and practical research-work for the "Viking Warrior-ship Project" at the Roskilde Viking-ship Museum in Denmark.

Practical Training
Training will take place over the whole weekend with emphasis on the Guild Principles. Teachers will include John Waller – Guild Master, Jonathan Waller – Senior Teacher, Kristina Soeborg – Senior Teacher.
Lars Enoksen, as The Guilds Senior Glima Teacher, will be teaching Glima, the Icelandic wrestling style which can trace its heritage back to the time of the Vikings.
Dinner and Drinks in the Galleries
On Saturday evening there will be drinks in The Tournament Gallery of The Armouries, followed by dinner in The War Gallery.
The Queens Golden Jubilee Horn – Individual Jousting Championships.
Also taking place over the weekend will the Jubilee Horn – Individual Jousting Championships. This will involve individual riders in full 15th Century harness competing against one another for the Jubilee Horn. Her Majesty The Queen has presented the Jubilee Horn to be competed for Annually. Members of The Armouries Interpretation Department will be riding as well as members of several other groups.
