Happy Thankssgiving!

Postby MurrayMoore » Wed Nov 26, 2003 5:18 pm

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. I hope to start building up a new batch of padded longswords this weekend, if I can some indoor house painting done, too.

I'll be experimenting with some new padded sword designs using Delrin, nylon, and hickory as the "bread" in the PS sandwich.

Ha! I know you were probably kidding, but I suspected that! You should try one of mine...

What is Delrin? Right now I'm experimenting with latex coatings, Sch 80 pvc core (double strength) and a new foam material called "microcel puff" which comes in thin sheets.

I also have a lot of the old duct tape and camping pad foam types which are cheap and simple to make (especially compared to the very labor intensive latex)

Herr strey,

Hey, how are you, yes it's been going well. I've been swamped-busy with work, some writing projects (I have a book coming out in February) and trying to help ARMA set up an event in New Orleans [I'm not an ARMA member I but was trying help the group out by scouting out some locations since they didn't have any members in the City... luckily it seems to have worked out].

I did get your email and it was very helpful, I'm sorry I hadn't gotten back to you yet. I've been slowly putting togehter some new latex coated weapons based on your suggestions and I was going to post a description of the process with photos, here to the ARMA forum so ARMA people can do it too. This European technique is definately a superior method to duct tape, though also much more time consuming, seemingly, and more expensive. I also found some domestic products which are equivalent to some of the stuff y'all use in Europe.

I'll be posting it soon, thanks again,

JR

I made a latex sparring SLA in the European fashion, and documented the process in a web page. For those of you who hate duct tape, you may find this a good alternative.

I also have a new short sparring clip up. Comments are welcome.
