the sport of fencing.... and the weapons themselves!
Many people seem to have written that such and such did this here and there but I can find no details (as yet) about what blades where made by who and when...

I am looking to find if there is a history or some form of timeline of fencing blades and companies....
Mainly the sporting types of blades as I am a fencer myself and have become interested in the last few years in the history of fencing..
when did comepanies start and close (supliers)
brand names - when, whose, country and dates such as for example to name a few wilkinson sword, solingen and the modern ones such as france lames (which I heard recently closed down but don't know the storey on that one).
polish, russion and chinese blades and fencing equipment.
I know may not exactly fit in a forum on medieval weapons and styles but I guess one has to start somewhere.. I will try to access some more posts in different areas - such as the fencing sites as well but I thought to leave a query here as well..
There are many different types of electric tips for foil (french, german, englsh polish and russian and of course some dodgy copies) also in history the tips have changed from the non electric era to the 50's (I believe) when electric fencing (with lights..) came to the fore (I have been told there is a book by Morten the a-z of fencing.. will try to get that next on my list).
But any info. or tidbits may be interesting...
Is there a site or a book out there listing the details and history of fencing itself? (not the rather over done sport side but the development of the weapons, maraging steel and different forging processes even).
Thanx for your interest and I hope you can give me some info. to start on.
