Arming/Short Sword and Buckler?

Postby Guest » Fri Nov 01, 2002 2:49 pm

Hey Guys,

Would one be able to apply the same type of training with Short Sword and Buckler, to Short Sword and Kite/Round/Heater Shields? The Size difference in the Shields was my initial problem.
Also i find that there is a lack of info on Sword and Shield, that is something that i hope will change. If anyone has an idea where there is info i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks <img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hi,

John Clements book "Medieval Swordsmanship" is an excellent resource for Sword and Shield Work.

I second Todd. There are few historical resources available at this time.Talhoffer has some "specialized" sword and shield and Marozzo and Agrippa touch on it briefly, but for the Scholar to make any valid efforts to interpret those texts and then translate them into workable methods with the Medieval sword and shield combination,a solid foundational knowledge is required.Clements' Medieval Swordsmanship provides just that.
