Street Savate

Postby Eddie Smith » Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:22 pm

those of you who watched human weapon will recognise the silver haired gentelman in the clip, from the Savate episode. He is an instructor at RAID the SWAT like orginazation in France.

I had heard he had some vidoes on Savate applications for street fighting, I think this may be some of one.

From what I know of early Savate, the Lutte Parisian, Parisian wrestling, was an intergral part, as here.

It is interresting how this compairs to earlier styles.

Is Savate a Renaissance Martial Art?
While I find it interesting I don't think it is a Renaissance M.A.

Savate descends from Zipota and Makila, which predate the Renaissance.

Where does that info come from? I'll admit I'm ignorant, but a passive internet search says otherwise.

http://www.savatedansederue.com/

This is Paul-Raymond Buitron's new site. His old site had some articles about his family's Savate history and it's relationship to Zipota. I am not qualified to debate, other than to say that he has discussed the relationship between Savate and Zipota on the old site and in some emails to me a few years ago.
