Fiore's abrazare video

Postby I. Hartikainen » Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:32 am

Hi!

Me and my partner in crime Ken Quek did a short video showing our current take on Fiore's plays of abrazare.

not bad but perhaps a concrete floor inhibited you from really going for it!

For a mechanics demo that was very clear and well thought out. I don't study the italian system but I swear I recognize a few of the plays (like the double chin push at 2:10 seems like one of the plays from Ringeck).

Hi!

Thanks for the comments! Yes, we were being careful with the concrete floor, and we also try to practice the actual throws mechanically so that we are able to perform the slowly and in balance.

I wouldn't be too surprised to find similar stuff from the Ringen tradition as well - to be honest it was what various people studying the German tradition taught and showed me at WMAW that set me on this course of interpretation regarding Fiore's abrazare.

Yours,
Ilkka

My local study group is making its way through Fiore this year and we are seeing more similarity than differences compared to the German masters in the actual techniques (even if the Italian terms sound so much more elegant). :D

Matt, thanks for pointing that out... I changed the way the website works and I need to update old material and links by hand which will take a while. The link now works however!

Ah, now I can see it.

Yes, I think those are good interpretations. Very clear, but I would get a mat for working those up to speed. Getting thrown on concrete is no fun.
