Postby david welch » Fri Oct 10, 2003 4:47 am

This is how I am making my new dummy.

My parts list is:

From home despot:

2 1.25"X5' schedule 40 pvc
1 2"X5' schedule 40 pvc

From wally-world:

2 yoga/pilates workout blocks
2 squeasy exercise balls
1 25' 3/8th" poly rope
1 street hockey ball
1 27" bicycle innertube
4 16oz bags of artificial snow @ $2.97 each
3 pool noodles
1 pr gloves
1 eye and mouth hood
6 55yrd rolls duck tape

Measure skeleton and cut to length.
lay out your skeleton

Drill holes and tie together. use "donuts" from pool noodles to make a more resistive joint.

Elbow and knee joints

Hips

Shoulder and collar bone

Neck articulation

So now you have your whole skeleton together

Make you some yoga block feet. You got to have something to stomp on! <img src="http://www.thearma.org/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Just note: I am makeing this dummy heavier duty that the instructions say to in the other post.

Still to come... the terrible head and tape. Lots of tape.

Thanks,
David

...looking forward to part two!

I think it's great that you're posting new picts as you finish that fellow up. Very easy to follow the building instructions! Great tutorial!

Your skeleton is a good idea, and PVC, although a very limited material, could make good bones at a very cheap price. But will it stand on its own(some punching bags are supported by ropes above and below, or ropes above and a base below), or have a layer around the skeleton to make it look and feel more human? Those would be the hard parts(if you were really ambitious, maybe simulating how certain joints work would be something to consider). I'd like to know how the final product ends up.
