Combat Dummy part 3

Postby david welch » Sun Oct 12, 2003 12:13 am

OK, lets start fleshing him out.

Using a noodle cut in half, add a forearm and biceps to the inside of the arm

fill the arms out with noodle and tape

Add shoulder caps...

Do the same thing to the legs, but use a whole noodle for them.

Attach your head and fill it out. I used some old rags we had lying around. Tape it on tight.

Thats all you need to get this far, and you could use him now if you wanted to.

But I am takeing padding and filling out his legs and body to strike on.

And there you are... Dress him up and have fun!

Excellent! I especially like the air of "thuggery" that the ski mask implies

This has been a really cool project idea. Thanks for sharing. I am going to have to build one of those guys.

To finish this project, later I am going to make some hands out of 1/4 inch pvc, duct tape and a pair of gloves for small joint manipulation and to have a "knob" at the end of the arms. I am also packing and taping the body more until it gets to the size I want. And I will probably finish it with one of those blue camping sleeping pads on the body to give it a better striking surface.

Cost wise, I am figuring you can make the other one for $20-$30 and mine is going to be $50-$75, without the clothing. It still beats the heck out of the $500 to buy one though

To make him heavier, I had some old lead dive weights that I cabletied to the inside of his spine, I think any of the suggestions on how to weight him would work. You just need to do them _before_ you get to the middle of the project.

I hope somebody finds this useful, and thanks for the nice compliments.

I got to handle this exact dummy last week, and I was very, very impressed by it. I'll be making one myself, I think.

Hey, nifty. I like how you added substance to the areas of certain muscles.
