Before S&H, a full 900-gram double weave uniform consisting of a red Judo jacket (with embroidered ARMA logo patch), red belt and black pants is in the $30 range. That's a full sport-specific uniform in ARMA colors for roughly 1/3 of the price of a gambeson alone.

The supplier is an overseas company (India, hence the prices), so the tricky parts are payment and shipping.

It would probably be best for me to set a deadline to get everyone's orders together and then collect payment via Paypal or, if absolutely need be, check. Then I'll make one payment to the supplier through Western Union. Once the bulk order arrives, I'll ship everything out individually.

Sea freight is very inexpensive (~$1/unit) but might take a while, so I have asked for an air mail quote.

I will then need to do some calculations for total shipping (int'l and domestic) and fees (paypal, western union), but I don't see that adding more than a few dollars to each order.

The first step, then, will need to be a head count of those who are absolutely, positively interested so I can figure out S&H. I'm going to set a March 1st deadline for this!

Right now I have Ray M., Stewart, Mike C., and myself on the list. Please PM or post if you are definitely in.

Just an update.

I am extending the March 1st deadline until further notice.

The supplier does not usually stock fabric in red. Apparently they purchase it as needed to fill large orders. However, they have an order for 450 gram red uniforms coming in the next few weeks and may have enough excess fabric for our orders. I'd prefer 900 gram but it could be a very long time before anyone places a bulk order for 900 gram red uniforms (apparently the Sambo jackets are usually 450 gram). I'll keep you all posted.

Please continue to PM me if you are interested.

Unfortunately, the supplier wasn't able to come through with the right fabrics unless we placed a large order, so I'll leave it to individuals to procure their ringen jackets.

Just to add to the original discussion, I'm noticing a lot of what appear to be belt grabs in Talhoffer, too.

Yes, I've seen more belt grabs in the manuals then sleeve/lapel grabs. I typically practice Ringen without a jacket, but wearing the belt from my jiu-jitsu gi so that I can carry a rondel simulator as a secondary weapon but also so that the belt is there as a grip which I'll have to defend.

I certainly wouldn't be shy about throwing someone by their belt, although I tend to preffer fighting for contol at the shoulder (just a matter of taste).
All fighting comes from wrestling.
