Yeah,

I think they are supposed to have a DVD for sale in the near future. I am looking forward to it, looks like a really good interpretation.

I've seen an ad for "Jirka Burkow Presents Leibringen: An Introduction to Medieval Wrestling" DVD on the Chivalry Bookshelf site. It is listed as currently available for $34.95, but it refers to Liechtenauer, not Ott.

The DVD found at Chivalry Bookshelf is a different DVD than the one being done by ARMA Poland. I believe they are attending one of the major WMA confrences in Europe where they will start selling the DVD after their presentation.

I finally got it to open with Windows Media Player - it's slow to load but worth the wait. It's a brief trailer set to music, formatted like the movie previews in theaters - some text introducing the principals and Master Ott, still shots of people and clips of them wrestling in different settings.

I would like to buy this DVD, too. Would anyone who knows details please post or PM instructions on how to buy the DVD?

Just a thought - are any other DVDs available or in the works by ARMA members, aside from streaming video on the websites / or containing them?

Otts wrestling would make for a nice class at the International Event. <img src="/forum/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I have recieved my copy of this video and I must say I am very impressed. It is well organized and does an excellent job of introducing you to the basic throws of master Ott. The breakdown of the material is done in a concise manner, and the presentation of the actual mechanics of the throws is clear and easy to understand. The subtitle are easy to read and in no way detracts from the viewing of this DVD. I would reccomend that this DVD belongs in everyone's research material who have an interest in unarmed combat.

Great Job.

This DVD is pretty hard to get, and after the end of the month it will get harder. Can someone pick up a few extras? I'm sure you'll have no problem selling them.

In the clip, I see a lot of throws and takedowns, but the only attack I saw used when the opponent hit the ground was the fleeting image of punches. Are the throws and takedowns supposed to end the fight in themselves, and are there any techniques used once the fight goes to the ground? I didn't see any in the clip, so I'm not sure.

Hi Justin and all,
the wrestling art of Master Ott Jude doesn't include ground fighting, only the throws, breaks and taking the opponent his balance. The fight ends generally in throwing the opponent on the ground, for example: hip throw may end with neckbreaking. After it the ground fight has no sense any more. Each throw ended as a falling down of your opponent on his head or neck ends the fight.
There are examples of the ground fights by other Masters, Martein Hundsfeld, I suppose. He explains how to defeat the opponent in armour.
Regards

Tomek
