Eager Student ready to begin in earnest.

Hi new to the forums and really looking for a place to get started.

Me and my buddy have always had a huge interest in martial arts and swordplay but we always though modern fencing didn't seem quite right and ren fares weren't really realistic. We have noticed the ressurgence in western martial arts and have been looking to start training.
We live in the Charleston area of South Carolina, we don't know of anybody around here who has already started something arma related but we would not mind being that group :)

We would like to start with unarmed techniques, we do not have proper equipment to train otherwise. Where do we go for raw source material (Links would be much appreciated) and well how do we really start this, we can get wooden swords and such later but funds are limited and we are not sure as to when we would be able to join as true Arma memebers with the $40 entrance fee.

Thank you for your time any help would be appreciated we have a particular interest in German styles but we defer to your wisdom.
