Looking for anyone near

Postby C.Van Slambrouck » Fri Jul 09, 2004 7:24 pm

Hello
I am relatively new to WMA, and looking for any one in the area of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, USA.
I am in the Military and making it to any kind of two-three day seminar is near impossible. I have a fairly good start to a “Swordsman’s Library” and a few of my soldiers are willing to hit me with wasters….but I need more than that heheh.
Please contact me if any one wishes to study and train in medieval longsword combat on a regular basis. Thanks

Christopher

Hi,

Note that the use of pseudo-nyms is not forum policy. Please use your real name.

Feel free to email me offline.

Thanks,

My name is too long ( Christopher James Van Slambrouck ) for it to appear in full as my Username, so the ARMA forum directer helped me out with C.Van Slambrouck.
"Quod omnis probus liber sit"
is a (latin) quote not a Pseudo-Nym
Thanks for the intrest through.
When are you due back to the States?

Hey Chris
I was thinking about your post and had a strange thought, if you want some sword practice you could do some short swording in PT with your rifle's as bayonet practice and teach some of the technique's to your soldier's you could even do the dagger work as PT in hand to hand combat bet your CO wouldn't mind either. It is just a thought but it would work i know when i was a Marine i loved any chance to do a little hand to hand combat, and some of the sword stuff could be done witha rifle as bayonet practice, and in Close quarter's battle's such as MOUNT. Good luck it might even get some of your men more invovled in WMA.

heheh
I have tired the PT thing. No go. my men and I are working 12-14 hour days plus PT Monday thru Friday.
I have even tried enticing the Joes with the chance of hitting me with wasters. That spurred some interest.
I will approach my plt sgt with the dagger / Close Quarter combat idea, that may well go over better. But most likely it’ll be outside structured PT and be a class of instruction.
Thank you for the advice, it has been helpful and Semper Fidelis

Well from the tone of the conversation i would say you are an Officer, but not an in the infantry, if that is the case i can understand the difficulty, and the long hour's.

I was just an enlisted guy but in the infantry and we could usualy get anything to do with combat put on the training schedule, heck when i was a machine gun section leader my section didn't get off until we all ran the o-course at the end of the day.

Here is another idea for yea though try making a flyer, there is usualy a bulletin board somewhere around the exchange put it there and see what kind of response you get.
