Maybe a bad choice of terminology there on my part; the bind does sound more likely. However, the edges do often meet at oblique angles and slide along each other during actions like countercutting along the same line (vertical vs. vertical, for instance), so what I previously stated is still possible, I think. The way we refer to the term "edge parry" pretty much refers to a right-angle direct blocking action, which as we know bites into the edge rather than doing much sliding around.
