I really hate it when I hear stuff like this. It just reinforces the misconception some people have that anybody interested in swords is probably a nut. I just hope freaky stuff like this doesn't prompt people to think we need a bunch of sword control laws. Maybe I should buy a lot more while I still can!

Yet another example of just how many lunatics exist in the world. I'm sure half of these closet cases believe they are Duncan MacCloud with the other half believing they are imbued with the martial energy of some long-dead Bushi or Ninja.

With WMA on the rise, however, it shouldn't be that long before we have borderline mental cases believing they are Richard the Lion Hearted or Saladddin and start running around with longswords or swords and shields. And, best of all, won't be that long before we have an anti-sword lobby to join forces with the anti-2nd Amendment people to try and protect the American people from themselves and especially from those nasty types who believe that the ability to choose to engage in self-defense is the moral perogative for the members of a free citizenry.

I don't understand why the trend is to create a negative stereotype of all the members of a particular group just because a few people that are not accepted as normal,even among the very group being singled out for demonization, choose in their delusion to do the most rediculous things. I'm willing to bet that most of these criminals are not even martial artists.I would contend that they are just low-life scumbags that bought a stainless-steel wall hanger and started hacking and slashing away at innocent Citizens in movie-inspired flowering swirls. <img src="/forum/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Well, it's really not much different than with guns. There are scores of responsible gun owners out there but it's the screwballs that ruin it for everyone. Relatively speaking, these cases are far and few between in comparison. Of course I would have no problem registering my swords as long as they don't want to take them away. I'll tell you this, being that I live in New Jersey this will be one of the first states to act on this matter <img src="/forum/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

I believe that there will always be certain people in authority who would like nothing better than to see every person disarmed and as helpless as possible, totally dependent upon those in authority for their very lives. These lunatics give those tyrants all the ammunition they need to enact laws that will eventually strip us of the right to even own a sword.

Dang! My neighbours already think I'm insane, (they see my friends and I in my yard training). I can only imagine what they'd think if they saw one of those. This ticks me off...don't know what else to say.

New Jersey gun laws suck Gary,thats for certain. <img src="/forum/images/icons/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Here in North Carolina we have a much easier time of it.I still get weird looks from the neighbors though when I break out the M14 for a trip to the range and have to carry it from the house to the truck.I even afix the bayonet from time to time on the firing line just to simultaneously indulge a couple of my passions; military-style firearms and bladed weaponry.All in all,it's a wonderful life! <img src="/forum/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" />

I can't imagine what my neighbors think though.During the late winter/spring me and my TKD buddies are training for the tournament season in my front yard.This includes alot of spirited sparring with feet and hands flying(and landing) accompanied by loud Kiai's.The rest of the year,I'm outside with my Deltin or Atrim going through my transition and cutting drills in the yard in full view.I think I'm known as "the scary guy on the corner" in my neighborhood.I'm sure many of you carry a similar moniker. <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />
