Good article. I like how they would give you training time, that is quite interesting and reminds me a bit of how today you have the right to a lawyer, even if you can't pay for one. I was reading in another article around here that they would also provide you with any arms and armor you may need, and possibly even a professional trainer. In some cases you could also hire a merc to champion for you, sort of like buying a high-priced laywer nowdays.

There is a certain romantic appeal to being able to challenge anyone who accuses you of a crime to a dual to the death. Something like that today would certainly free up a lot of court hearings. Things like neighbors, family, friends, etc quarraling over property and such would not happen too often. Legal disputes about spilled coffee, food making you fat, etc... yeah. No school like the oldschool.

HAHAHA! Amen to that! There sure wouldn't be such a thing as overcrowded prisons with the dual being re-legalized.

Good article Jeffrey, I love the images in Talhoffer '59 but this is the first translation I've seen. Boy, those were the good ole days. You have a beef with someone, challenge them, spend six weeks training, then armour up! I've known a few speakers of "falsehoods" who could use a good mortshlag to the face. <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hey Guys,

I appreciate the kind words.

My thanks again to ARMA for giving my writing a venue to be read.

I may not have everything right in the article, but I did my best. Perhaps it can help lead others into related areas of research. Enjoy!

Thanks,
JLH
