Announcing a new website.

Postby Patrick Kelly » Sat May 24, 2003 7:45 pm

Hello !

I would like to take this opportunity to inform everyone of the creation of a new website, myArmoury.com. Nathan Robinson, myself, and others have been developing myArmoury as a resource for information concerning the modern replica sword. Our aim is primarily one of collection and research. Our focus is not one of martial study as we feel that this is being more than adequately covered by ARMA, and others.

Our goal is three fold. First, to provide a consumer guide to assist the buyer in purchasing a replica sword. Second, to provide education regarding the swords history and manufacture (these may be replicas but a knowledge of their historical basis is neccesary to appreciate them). Third, it enables us to share our collections with the rest of the sword community.

So come check us out and I hope you find something worthwhile.

Thanks for the heads up Patrick. I've seen the website before but it looks like it's been greatly expanded and improved. The weapon comparison chart is very cool. Keep up the good work!

I'm one of the contributors to Nathan's site, and I am happy to see that it has taken off so nicely. It is our hope that it will be a valueable resource for collectors, scholars and practitioners alike.

Nathan, Patrick and Bjorn,

I've also been checking your site for a while now. I must say it really provides some excellent detail for quality replica buyers. I'll be looking foward to seeing more in the near future.

Great job!

Hey Todd-

Thanks much.. and, of course, please do link to it. We're putting this site together for the greater good of the sword community. Now that might sound really altruistic, but really it's quite self-serving. The healthier the community and market is, the better for us all.

Every Monday brings a new update. I'm committed to keeping the site fresh and growing.

Thanks,

Gary Gryzbek, Tim Sheetz, and myself attempted something simuliar with our "Tools of the Trade" section on ARMA Northeast but nothing compared to your site. It's a great an easy interface and the essays are excellent. A real "Training and Education Tool" for us in the Western Martial Arts. I'll link you up as soon as I can. Again, great job!

A guy at work today, looking over my shoulder, saw me looking at my site, then I opened yours, he said "Now thats a website!" <img src="/forum/images/icons/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Cheers,

Sully,

Since the weather is so rotten today I spent some time this morning taking new pics of my swords. They should be much clearer than the old ones. Expect them via email but do the upgrade only when you have some time.....I know how buisy you are.

Thanks!
Gary

Thanks Sean,

I'm afraid that my photos (all of the ones with the green background) are the weak link on the sight right now. The 35mm just doesn't have the definition needed for bringing out a lot of the finer details. I guess I'm going to have to go digital !

Okay, Sean! Sounds like a deal. Where do I find the Thorpe Falchion? I don't see it on their site...
