Meyer MS

Postby Ken McKenzie » Fri Oct 10, 2008 9:24 am

The bibliography on the arma web site (http://www.thearma.org/ManuscriptListPre1650.html) contains reference to the following:

1560 Joachim Meyer Untitled No MS Des.
Handwritten text of 80+ color plates on great-sword, rapier, and dussack with diagrams.

Does anyone here have any additional details about this manuscript? For example, where it is kept or who to contact to obtain images from it?

The manuscript in question has not yet been made available to the public. For more information about the manuscript please contact ARMA director John Clements.

I've heard it is in a library in Lund here in Sweden (loot from some war I suppose). Going to check up on that.

I figured that arma would not be allowed to distribute the images they have of the ms for copyright reasons. I was thinking more of someone pointing me in the direction of the library/collection where it is kept and possibly even telling me who to contact to legitimately obtain some scans. However if JC is my best bet then I will try and get in touch with him.

Ken has pointed out else where on the Internet that this manual has been put online as a PDF file.

http://www6.ub.lu.se/externt/dokument/material/joachim_meyer.pdf

ARMA does have publication rights to this manual and I think a translation was recently started by ARMA scholar Brian Hunt.
