Training partners in the Upstate NY area

Postby Graham Wilcox » Sun May 15, 2011 3:17 pm

Hello all,

I posted a while back about training partners in the Upstate NY area. I was wondering, since I'm now settled into college and working again, are there any study groups already formed up in this area? I'm interested in Historical European Martial Arts but I recognize the need for individuals with more experience than myself.

Thank you for any aid you can offer me.

Where in upstate NY are you?

There are two ARMA study group in NJ, but that's not going to help you any. There is a HEMA group in Poughkeepsie and one in Syracuse. If you're way up North there's a group in Ottawa, Ontario and another in Burlington, VT.

There was a group in Rochester a few years back, and I think they're still active (Rochester Medieval Longsword Club). There's also a rapier group in Ithaca and another group in Ithaca that I'm not sure what they're doing.

Edit: Just saw you listed your location as Rochester. Please tell me you're at the UofR (class of 2001 :) )
Sherry Wuensch (sawuensch@gmail.com) is the last contact info I saw for the Rochester group. James Head is/was a member and you can find him on several of the online forums.
