the inside diameter is 3/8ths of an inch. the rings usually stay put pretty well. i haven't had any problems until last night, one of the rings in the armpit came loose since i pulled to hard on the sleeve taking it off. normally i just do a hand stand and it falls off, but it got kinda stuck last night.

for now the shield is flat. i've been thinking about soaking it in really hot water, and trying to warp it such that it's curved.

as for the wards, we fight from the high, middle, and back guard, as depicted in john c's book. we stress keeping the shield out in front, not hanging loosely close to your body.

so i'm guessing that would be a middle type ward?
