New Stirling Arms Wasters -Quality

Postby Aaron Pynenberg » Tue Oct 18, 2005 5:32 pm

Folks,

Forgive, I cannot find the post in which we were talking about the quality of New Stirling Arms Wasters. I wanted to clarify a point which I may have unintentionally made.

NSA's waster is the best waster I have handled to date. In terms of it's engineering and design it is a pure work of art. The amount of force which I had put that waster through at the Texas event is what I would classify as tremendous.

If anyone remembers Shane and I fought a bout in which we were striking very hard, repeated blows at each other. Shane is a very strong man, and I am also a very strong individual. We were putting those tools through some tremendous forces.

In addition to that fight, I also lent it to Matt to finish his Prize Playing the day before.

I took it home and had about five very hard bouts against my local guys, during which it snapped in half.

I am here to say, that just about any wood tool would have probably broken under these circumstances, and that in general I was very happy with the tool.

Why am I posting this? Have I become a salesman for NSA? How many licks does it take....sorry, back on track, because our Art is so new, and in need of quality products I would hate for a Comany out there who is doing the right thing and working hard to please us, have any unintended negative publicity to it's customer base. I want to encourage growth in these offerings and want it to be profitable for them....

You should all know that Tina e-mailed me privatly and offered me a free one to replace the old one...no questions asked. I have turned her down and explained that I was well aware of how and why it failed and had nothing to do with the "quality" of the tool or the Company.

I will order from them again in the future and would recomend them to anyone, - Aaron Pynenberg GFS

Hey Folk's

I agree with Aaron on his assement of the NSA waster, I have handled there's and they are the best commercialy made waster i have handled, and the first one the pommel came off they did replace it free of charge, i would bet they would have done the same with the second we elected to see if we could repair the second one our self, and when it didn't work we just taped on the pommel and ran with it.

I can honestly say that Aaron and I abused both of our wasters in Houston. Mine hasn't broken but if it had, I, like Aaron, would have considered it the price to be paid for playing hard. Matt and I bout together with that degree of intensity quite a bit among ourselves and while I've only broken one of my own wasters' blades over the years (and I wasn't even abusing that one), I have torn a pommel or two clean off of my Raven and Wooden Weapons tools.

The fact that NSA offered to replace the tool without being asked to do so says a great deal about their personal and collective integrity to me. That is above and beyond the norm and they are to be commended in my opinion.

I agree, their very good.
We had significant input in assisting them getting it just right. Very pleased with them.

I would also like to chime in here. NSA wasters are far and away the best balanced and handling wasters I have ever seen. They actually handle like a sword rather than the "baseball bat" feel that other wasters tend to have.

I heard in Thailand they are made of special wood that only grows in the tropic, which is supposed be very tough! They're not hard, so they don't break. They kindda give a little...asorbing the impact. I don't think you can very easily cut through them with swords, as a result. I don't remember the name of the tree. And I think the Indian in South America also have a very similar type of wood they use to make club like staff.
