Looking for Sword and Shield Manual

Postby Bill Tsafa » Sat Nov 04, 2006 9:24 am

I am looking for historical manuals that cover techics used with a traditional Norman sword and a kite shield. Related to the 10th, 11th and 12th and 13th century. Please post a link if one exits. Thanks.

Hmmm.....I am unaware of any. The I-33 has lots of sword and buckler, but that is the best I can think of.

The closest thing you are going to find is 16th century manuals on the use of the Italian round target. The earlist manual we have is from the 13th century, the ms I.33, and it is a sword and buckler manual. The nearest thing we have for medieval sword and shield is iconographical evidence, sword and buckler manuals, and the Italian target.

Good Luck
