I liked that MP4 video quite a lot, showing how Versetzen is properly done as the very fight-masters of olden times tell us to do by utilising your own and/or the foe's blade Flaeche. Showing the "360 degree" capability of proper edge-to-flat or flat-to-edge Versetzen was most effective, and explained visually what JC has been telling & writing for years. The slide-show with close-ups of blades was neat and helpful. JC prevented injury to self, set up his counterattack, while his own sword was undamaged. That is how to do it alright.

If some naysayer watches it and still does not get it, then perhaps he ought to show the fencing world how he likes to destroy his own sword in a video by edge-to-edge bashing while rationalising how that is somehow better.

Yet by the same token, if someone has the integrity to admit that edge-to-edge as preferred praxis is wrong and that he would like to start praxis of flat-use, then I would applaude the guy.

Anyway, thank you JC, that presentation was cool by me.

Watching this video just remind's of what Doebringer said in his manual when he is talking about the Oberhau and unterahu being the basis for all strike's.

Pg 24r

...And from these strike's come the four displacement's(versetzen) from each side with which all strike's or thrust are broken and also all gaurds, and from them you come into the four hanging's and from these one can do fine art as you will hear later.

Then further down the same page he talk's about when your opponent win's the first strike and say's this.

...And as soon as the opponent binds your sword then the point should be no more than half an ell(30-40cm) from the opponent's breast or face. You shall be careful and note if you can get in behind and alway's go the nearest way and never too wide...

Then on page 32v of Doebringer he say's this about displacing.

He who displace's well, will hurt many strike's in swordplay for you come handily into the hanging's from the displacement's(versetzen)

JC did all the above with those displacement's, I would be pretty sure some of those displacement's where closer than 30-40cm to Aaron's face or breast, I have had our guy's working on this stuff for a few month's now and telling them any displacemet that is a good displacement should bring them into one of the four hanging's.

Yes, very good video and explains exactly what it claims to, staying always to the point.

I would even call it an "excellent" video, but for the horribly out of sync audio. I can only watch it so much before that really drives me nuts.

Yeah, that really draws the quality down.
Playing it in VLC media player solved that problem, though.
Well, on my computer anyway.
(not that such a solution should be necessary, of course)
