Parts of the Fight in Meyer

Here is an excellent new article by our comrade Mike Cartier

Parts of the Fight in Meyer

This interpretive article is a first of its kind -- an analysis of Meyer's parts of the fight that breaks away from the hegemony of range-specific purview of fencing and offers instead a dynamic phasic understanding of fencing.

Yes, very good Mike. I am happy to have a succinct resource to reference when explaining movement throughout a combat to anyone who joins us. I see where you have given the modern reference of MMA as a tool of comparison, as well as Bruce Lee, who certainly would have loved to see the WMA manuals and how the European masters understood that combat is universal, yet each individual must find their own way through it.

Thank you

Thanks and glad the article is useful for any fellow Meyer-philes.

Yes Bruce would have loved the HEMA stuff, especially the German as he had a bit of German in him and he appreciated anything martial.

This is very nice and very well done. I'm using Meyer as the longsword basis for a EMA group I started here in my town. Something like this will help wonderfully.
