New to ARMA

Postby Riaan Koekemoer » Wed Apr 20, 2011 7:35 am

Hi everyone, I am new here and would like a few pointers. I am situated in Potchefstroom (150 km from Johannesburg), South Africa and would like to start researching and training. I do not think there is anyone in my area that has even thought about this. I am however trying to convince one of my karate training partners to start training with me. Any how to tips will be gladly appreciated.

Yours in good health

I believe James Roberts and the Medieval Armed Combat Society (MACS) are in Johannesburg.

Hey Riaan,

Glad to hear you're interested! I think it would be really cool to have an ARMA study group in South Africa someday, and it has to start with someone.

One piece of advice I can give out of my own experience is not to get discouraged if most people you invite don't participate. A martial art is a lifelong journey, and it takes a lot of self-motivation to persevere.

Feel free to ask any other questions, and we'll do what we can to give you a fair answer.

I have the contact info of a few guys in SA on my other computer. I'll send you a message on Monday.

edit: Seems the guys I've talked to are all part of MACS in Johannesburg
