Anybody In Ogden Utah?

Postby Bryce Johns » Sun Jul 31, 2011 12:24 pm

I'm looking to get into RMA (longsword), (I tried to get into it a couple years ago, but circumstances conspired against me) and I would like to know if there is anyone or any groups in the Ogden Utah area?

Background: I have taken 2 quarters of sport fencing classes and a self-defense class but that pretty much it.

I'm also looking at some guidebooks to get, (as a student I have a very small budget). I have looked at "Medieval Swordsmanship" by John Clements before and liked it a lot, but I was looking around and saw "Sigmund Ringeck's Knightly Art of the Longsword" By David Lindholm & Peter Svärd.
I can only afford one, any suggestions as to which book or others I should get as a newbie to get started? Good Illustrations are pretty important for me.

Also, any suggestions of articles (or videos) to read on the site or elsewhere for techniques and such? (although I could probably look through this forum and find stuff previously mentioned just as well)

I don't currently have a waster, the NSA site appears to be down... any ideas why that is or when it will be back up? In the meantime I may get a wooden dowel or something, I also have access to a friend who has a couple Shinai.
But As a starving student a $100 waster is a pretty big investment for me, cheaper solutions are somewhat preferable but whatever.
