New and wanting to start!

Postby Brian Badesco » Wed Sep 28, 2011 6:41 pm

Hello everybody! I am Brian, as my username says -points- and I just joined the forum with some questions. I hope that these aren't excessively asked and if they are I'm sorry! -pout- But before I ask them please, answer the question rather than directing me or giving me some smart mouthed comment please! Thank you!

Question one: I want to join a study group in my area but I don't entirely know how. Do I just email the guy and ask? Or do I have to do something else?

Question two: What are you taught at study groups/do study groups teach different ideas/tactics with weaponry?

Question three: How do I know what I will be taught at a study group?

Thank you for your answers! They're really helpful! Oh and if you live in the area I do and go to the study group it's North Carolina. I know of its location-ish... I just don't know exactly where. If you go there PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me!

1. Yes, just email the contact for the study group and request an opportunity to visit their practice sessions to start with. They'll introduce you to the group and to what we do and then you can decide whether to apply for membership or not.

2. All study groups use our core ARMA curriculum for longsword, and they can also practice with whatever other weapons or manuals they choose to study as well. Different study groups have different specialties and practice styles, but the longsword curriculum gives us a common knowledge and skill base to work from and serves as the best introduction to the art.

3. See #2, and ask the study group leader.
