Sounds like you guys put on a great event. Congratulations! Looks like there is a solid ARMA presence in the Smokey Mountain State (or whatever you guys call yourselves).

We had been thinking about trying something like "The Volunteer State". LOL

I am glad they had a good time. But for me the best part was going through all the stuff I had seen. Putting together enough for a day and a half was a bunch different than just for a usual class.

So I started thinking about what I liked... and from Southern Knights there was some longsword stuff from John that really impressed me, a handfull of your grappling moves worked very well for me, and some of Jay Vail's dagger techniques that I thought were really smooth. So I tossed them all in.

Then there was some things that Jake worked on I really like that he practiced with us for a seminar he was doing out west... Some of the new stuff Bill works on with me... a few longsword moves my wife uses that I like...

Just going over it all at picking out my favorites and working them up for this was a lot more fun, and productive, than I would have guessed. I think a new feature of our group from now on is once a week, somebody gets to train every one else in one of their "favorite" techniques.

[I am sorry for the guys from KY, though. One couldn't make it, and the other one worked until midnight and then drove down for the day Saturday. Unfortunately he made it in right after the longsword basic part had finished, and the group was just too big to give him enough help catching up. ]

I only live about an hour and a half from Louisville. I'd be happy to help out. I'm currently visiting my son in tri-cities Wa. I expect to be home by next week. I'll be heading off to work by Sept 7th. so the window of opportunity is narrow, but there is an opening. P.M. me!

Hey, buddy!

You guys in KY need to take Rob up on this! He used to come down to our meetings here in Knoxville all the time. He is good people!

I would like to extend my thanks to Denise and Chris for hosting the event and going above and beyond (at least as far as I am concerned.) They fed us lunch, dinner, & breakfast, and put me up for the night! I am most grateful for their wonderful hospitality.

Likewise, I greatly appreciate the “Welch clan” (David, Donna, Bill, and Jennifer) for coming down and sharing their skill and knowledge. It had been a while since I last saw them, and it certainly was fun to train with them again.

No doubt, I enjoyed the event, and I regret that I will not be able to attend future events in Tennessee as I will be moving to Texas in the next few weeks. Hopefully, though, I will be able to catch up with the Smiths and Welchs at future ARMA events.
