Hi,
So i have done quite a bit of fighting in a transitional harness. Now that I am getting back into the swing of things (no pun intended) I would like to build myself a low gothic harness.
I have made a sallet or two, and other pieces that corospond to that type of armor in the past. The one part that I am trying to figure out and I no longer live in NYC, so I cant go to the met and find out is the bevor. I made some drawings of one with a sallet taht I liked that had sort of a falling buff. The part that I cant figure out is the fit, and how rotational movment is allowed when the bevor/buff is on.
I am woundering if that was the whole point of a falling buff. Up for the initial charge at lance, and then down for more dynamic fighing. If so, then that answers that.
Also, if I go with a falling buff, are the nubs that hold the lames in place made replaceable? Sorta a rivet head. Last but not least how far up dose a bevor go?
It has been my experience that a well made and tailored harness works way better and makes a hudge difference in preformance.
P.S. Lets hope santa leaves me a gambeson and porpoint under the tree this year!
Thanks,
J
