I have a three weapon mask that works pretty well... but I'd love to modify it and add throat protection and some head padding into it. I also own a sallet and bevor, I tend to always wear the bevor, folded down it protects the throat and jaw, snapped up it protects to the tip of my nose. However, I need to modify the padding within it-worn fully extended, if I were to take a shot on it the bevor would slam up and bloody, if not break my nose. Alas, I did not consider that this particular bevor was designed to lock onto the upper breastplate on a full harness. Experiment, experiment. The sallet, although offering good protection and intimidation (like sparring isn't sometimes intimidating enough) it has the same terrible narrow field of vision. Something I had never considered until trying out a visored helmet design was that the somewhat stiff movements sometimes seen in some harnessfechten was because of lack of visibility and NOT because of the armour. It was wierd to watch my training buddies each try this sallet out in slow waster engagements and see each one suddenly move in that subtlely awkward way that I attributed to full-plate harness while they are in shorts, t-shirt and sallet!
I think now about the "raise your visor after the initial clash" viewpoint more nowadays. But I'm still trying to use the visor, hoping that there are ways to adapt to it further.
cheers!
