I want a real sword

Postby William Savage » Fri Oct 14, 2005 11:34 pm

Hi
Im looking to buy a 12century sword thats as realistic/high quality as they come.
If any one knows a 12century sword (one mainly for single hand but can accomidate double hand) maker please let me know.
Cost isn't too much of an issue since id like to go all out, and modern manufacturing methods are only slightly bothersome.
Thanks everyone.

I can only completely agree with Gary here.

I have myself one of their viking blades and am working on getting few more in the long run, and I can pretty much see myself buying Albion for life if they continue the trend with producing such amazing swords.

You will pay an extra penny, but its definately worth the money you will pay exponentially.

What ever sword you get, you should call the manufacturer, and discuss what you want in a sword. If you intend to cut nothing but foam noodles, and plastic bottles, any quality sword will suffice. If on the odd chance you feel that with your sword you want to be able to cut sturdy materials, be it meat and bone, heavy bamboo, or a metal helm.

It is no fun cutting something you feel is a reasonable target(which is subjective to each individual ) and then finding a large hunk of the edge missing.

Modern manufacturers can and do make swords that will cut and survive, but you will need to tell them what you want to do with their swords, then they can meet your needs.
Thanks, Bill

I have two Albion swords and am impressed with them. I have a sword from another company and I am NOT impressed with it!

William

I don't know your age, amount of skill, or experience, but I take that you are fairly young, forgive me if I am wrong. Therefore, please consider this friendly warning.

Remember that a sharp sword cannot be unloaded, it has no safety, and if you hit yourself with the sword it is very likely going to cut you very deeply and you might lose a limb or our life.

First, make sure you know how to handle a sword very well.

Thanks for all the great responses guys.
And Randall i'm 18 which is young but not young enough that my spelling should clue you on my age. Even though im a drop out i do all in my power to never let harm come from a mishandeled sword of MINE.
i appreciate your concern.
