Mr. Demick, I followed the link to that forum and saw that the Germans usurped the FIE (which is well-known, Heydrich Reinhardt was a passionate fencer) and carted away the FIE's archives. If I remember, somebody in this forum once posted scans of a Hitler Jugend longsword manual. Perhaps the Nazis really did uncover some longsword manuals and use them? The SS was obsessed with the Teutonic Knights and Himmler even took over a castle and used it as a sort of pseudo-chivalric resort for his SS officers. Reprehensible as it may sound, but has anybody ever looked into these Hitler Jugend manuals or this "hidden documents" angle or in what sort of 'fencing' they did in this castle?
It would have been a remarkable irony if they did do longsword work and remembering the contributions of the Jewish fight masters.
