Question on traning

Postby Dylan palmer » Sun Nov 20, 2005 9:33 pm

to get to the point i was wondering if any one could offer some advice on what i should do for my solo drills i curantly practice my basic cuts and the master cuts on a pell and on thin air. a seconed isue my sparing partners are nowhere near as good as me but they are geting better <img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> witch makes it diffacult for me to pratice my master cuts beacuse no matter how much i advise them to try win the before they still have the tendacy to go all defensve and froget there guards and go into a sort of huddaled position i keep corecting them and slowly there staring to hold there guards and staces but they still go defensve alwaise alowing me to win the before witch is ok exepct for the fact that it never gives me a chance to try say a krumphau or a zwerch witch i feel are lacking beacuse of this any suggestions.

sorry this post is so unorganized but it is late and my mind is slowing down lol thatks for the help. and good night

Hey Dylan

a seconed isue my sparing partners are nowhere near as good as me but they are geting better witch makes it diffacult for me to pratice my master cuts beacuse no matter how much i advise them to try win the before they still have the tendacy to go all defensve and froget there guards and go into a sort of huddaled position i keep corecting them and slowly there staring to hold there guards and staces but they still go defensve

I would start doing the Hidden strikes as a drill also with them, just grab a partner and say ok i'm going to throw a zwerch you counter with a zorn, or have your partner throw a straight oberhau and you counter with zwerch or in sparring try to use them against there gaurd's.

When you sparr you could wait until he attack's you and work absetzen and abwenden to counter with out striking or counter with the hidden strike's, if they go "defensive" I would bet it is because they don't want to lose or get hit, so don't hit them for awhile let them gain some confidence in there ability, the opposite of confidence is fear so they are probably afraid losing or getting hit or hitting you to hard.

I like to use some sparring session's to learn new skill's and will try thing's i have done as drill's in full speed sparring and the first few time's as often as not i get hit because i mess up the timing or distance or it is not the right situation to do a particular technique, I do evetualy figure out where and when and how to do it.
