New sword schwag?

Postby Allen Johnson » Tue Dec 27, 2005 9:19 am

Did anyone manage to aquire any new sword related items over the holidays? <img src="/forum/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

My brother really suprised me with a copy of 'Scottish Arms Makers' by Charles E. Whitelaw. This is a very rare, VERY expensive source book containing the records of recognized members of the weapons and armour guilds in Scotland from the 15th century to 1870. He said he got it from a guy who obvioulsy had no idea what it was worth. Heres the one thats on sale at amazon as just a general idea of what this one is going for. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0853682011/qid=1135696443/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/102-5644913-0884138?n=507846&amp;s=books&amp;v=glance

Crazy hunh? Anyway, anyone get any things shiny or fun from the jolly fat man? <img src="/forum/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Are you kidding me ?!?!?! $449 for a book. Are the pages made of gold ?!?!!?!

Anyway, my girlfriend go me a new Generation 2 Lucien Prince sword to replace a sword I broke. I though that was cool.

You'd think it would be so with that price- or at least be able to give you a nice massage or something. I finally weasled it out that only $50 was spent on it. Its no drop in the bucket but almost seems so when faced with that high of a price tag! I suppose if I think about it there is some sense to it. Compiling that many records for that legnth of time was certainly no simple task. I'm sure many, many years went into the research for that book. Combine that with very limitied printing, plus being out of print and there you go. I'm very fortunate.
