Dijon teaser trailer!!!!

Postby Matt Easton » Tue May 23, 2006 5:23 pm

Gordon Hart of Schola Gladiatoria has put together this little teaser trailer from the many many hours of video footage we have from this year's event in Dijon - of course more will come, but in time...

Thanks Matt, looks like you guys had a great time. How satisfied are you with the shinai-based simulators? Shinai always seemed to me to be too short, too light, too round, and too flexible for longsword simulators. They do seem to allow pretty high intensity bouting however, which is critical to understanding techniques and concepts IMO.

Hi Matt - having been through all kinds of simulators we mainly use the weighted shinai now. They are about the same length as my longswords and with the 'Schola Ringpiece' (a lead ring) weigh about 2.5lbs and have the POB in the right place.
You can read more about our weighted shinai here:

any online how-to stuff on making those weighted Shinai swords Matt. They look like they might be a good addition to the 3 simulators we use now. I have never been a fan of Shinai but it looks like you guys have weighted it and have a crossguard so it seems pretty close.

Be sure to bring some of these to Houston in 2007

It is a great video in spite of the shinai . Been showing it to people since I saw it on sword forum. I hope I can make it to the next event in 2007.
