training partners in Massachusetts

Hello all!

I am new to the forum, but have been looking to traing in Western martial arts for some time. I have been unable to find someone willing to train or able to teach historical western martial arts, particularly rapier and dagger or pole arts with cane or staff. Is there anyone on the forum from my area interested in a training partner or is there a study group nearby?

I live in southern New Hampshire, near Nashua, where are you in Mass.? I just started studying WMA as well.

There is the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, which I would recomend checking out. They have quite a collection of arms & armor. They also offer classes through their sword guild, their websit is at: www.higginssword.org
However, I have not had the chance to attend any of their demonstrations, or classes. So I really can't say much about them, except that their classes are expensive.

I realise this post is quite old, but I live in Southern NH and am trying to find someone to study with. Did you ever have any luck?

I went down to Higgins a week or so ago and watched one of the guild's demonstrations. It was interesting, but not what I was looking for -very slow, more a study of the techniques than a living WMA. If that makes sense. Oh, and insanely expensive for the classes. :wink:

Training in New England

I have been interested in training in historical fencing for some time, but until recently I have been unable to put any time or energy into it. I have more spare time now and am once again looking to begin training. How close are you to Boston?

Looking in MA

I live in Brighton. I actually have a decent sized backyard and I have a car so I can either meet you at your home or you can meet me at mine. Right now I am interested in Medieval longsword, but eventually I want to develop skills in sword & shield/ buckler, rapier, and dagger fighting. What are your interests?

Oh great. Not too terribly far away. My back yard is pretty small I'm afraid. It would be nice if we could trade off on the driving.

Oh well.
