"The Polearms of Paulus Hector Mair" finished

Brian Hunt and I are very pleased to announce that, after three years, we have finally completed and submitted to Paladin Press our translation of the five unarmored polearms chapters from Mair's "Ultimate Book of Athletics" (22 techniques for shortstaff/spear, 12 longstaff/lance, 21 halberd, 16 poleax, and 9 various weapon pairings).

This translation spans all three surviving manuscripts, joining the original Latin and German texts into one modern English edition. Digital restorations of Jörg Breu the Younger's original artwork complement the text. Thoroughly researched introductory essays provide a clear picture of Mair's life in the greater context of the German Reformation, and literal translations of both languages and an exhaustive glossary are included in the appendices.

Also, JC will be contributing a foreword.

Our book is scheduled for preproduction in 4-5 weeks and should go to press a few months later. We don't have a release date yet but will post it on our website, http://www.PaulusHectorMair.com, as soon as we find out.

Law school is why it took a year longer than we had originally planned.

I too am impressed by the ability to get through law school and work on a book of this type as well.

Hi Jay,

just for clarification, the book is a translation and not an interpretation of techniques. That's a later project. :)

However, Mair is so clear in his instructions that most of what is written will not need much interpretation. He even tells you which foot to step with, in what manner, and when.
