ARMA Chile - Provisional Study group

Postby Francisco Uribe » Tue Nov 28, 2006 9:04 am

Hello everybody.

I'm proud to announce the new website for the ARMA Chile study group.
These webpages is a reflection of a personal project that started a little over a year ago.

www.esgrimahistorica.cl

Last Xmas I had the oportunity of meeting and talking a lot of people in Chile that were fed up with escapism and fantasy.
Since, then we have been working trough the internet to develop their own study group.
They been holding bi-weekly training sessions for over 9 months now, and have adopted the ARMA methods, goals and philosophy.

So far the website is offering translations to spanish of Fiore and Doebringer. More will be added up in time.
ALso we are working to translate the articles from the ARMA website to offer them to the general public. I'm talking about editorials, research articles and more.

If you guys feel curious, there are some photos and videos that may be worth to check out.

Any and all imput is welcome

Spanish Flos Duellatorum

Postby Jeffrey Hull » Tue Nov 28, 2006 9:47 am

Good luck to you guys.

I found this at the friendly Schola Gladiatoria forum:

http://www.fico2k.com.ar/ccespadas/fiore.htm

I cannot vouch for any accuracy or correctness regarding that interpretation of Flos Duellatorum by Fiore dei Liberi, since I do not speak Spanish and thus cannot give proper critique.

However, since it is indeed in Spanish, I thought it would be helpful to you. You can certainly analyse and use it as you see fit to do. It may prove decent.

Thanks for the thought Jeffrey.
There are several translations going around. It has been a great change since I first released my own Fiore 3 years ago, pleading for more people to junp in and start translating material to the language of the Kingdom of Castilla.
The link you post is by an Argentinian bladesmith, Leonardo Daneluz.
My own translation of Fiore can be downloaded from:
www.msu.edu/~uriberom/manuales.html

This page also contains also contains a translation to spanish fron the original done for ARMA by David Lindholm.

A spanish group called AVIEA, is hosting my translations, but it also has Talhoffer, Ringeck and the Codex Wallerstein.
http://www.aviea.org/descargas.html

I'm currently working on my own Ringeck and Vadi translations. It is a really good way of learning.... if you take the time to do a proper translation.

I would highly recommend the mental exercise!

Now we all know where to go

Francisco:

Thank you for posting the links to your own translations, and the others.
I had tried to find your work before but failed (I feel silly about that).
Your PDF of Fiore Dei Liberi is substantial and well done.
Now we all know where to go to access all that -- thank you!

:)
