ANYone in Southern CA?

Postby Lorraine Munoa » Wed Oct 04, 2006 1:21 pm

You have to help me, I'm going crazy here.
Is there anyone in this half of California interested in meeting up maybe at least once a month for some practice? I'm kinda desperate. I used to practice with ARMA Provo, but now I'm stuck in San Diego county, where the closest thing to what I'm used to is that Adrian Empire gang. (not close at all, in other words)
Help!

I feel your pain... going from the Provo group to South Carolina has put me in the same predicament.

I am looking into this, and am currently located in Temecula. Is there anyone else from San Diego to Corona Looking into this as well? We could perhaps start a group.

Just Temecula? That's not far at all! Maybe there is hope! Once a group here existed people would want to join, I know it. :D
"ARMA West"... Doesn't sound too bad... 8)

I'm in San Diego. About 35 minutes south of Temecula (on a good traffic day).

Hah! Yes!
There, that's three of us, I live in San Diego county. Three is enough to start a study group!
Anybody else out there?

I need to do some more research and see how the system works for beginners. I still need to sign up for a membership and find a good plastic/wooden waster to practice with. Anyone have any good suggestions?

New Stirling Arms! They make the nicest wasters.

The magical plastic wasters from the land of Wisconsin? They are very cool. 8)

I don't know if the study group idea has taken off, simmered down or died, but I live in southern Orange County and would love to be part of a group.

Is the idea of a SoCal study group still alive?

For my part, I would love to be a part of a group. However, I am thinking of forestalling it until I get a job and turn 18 in February. Until then I think I will be content to go to any meetings that are held and to study on my own reading the texts. Second off a meeting place that is midway for all of us has not been discussed, Orange County is a long ways away. Suggestions?

Orange county is the farthest away so far... I suppose you could take the train..Or we could all meet in say Temecula...

Then there's the question of Police. Almost any time you get out Western style swords, someone will inevitably call the cops on you, for being a "danger to the safety of their community". (note: this almost never happens to any EMA practitioners that I know of. Grr.) There must be a park in which we could meet and Not have this happen.

Last but not least, I have no idea how to go about the legal end of starting a study group. We'd have to get Waivers.

I have a few friends "on the beat" I will ask em and see what they say, but if I remember correctly, last time I asked if I could bring a wooden Katana to a function safely, he said "As long as it is in plain view." or something too that nature. I mean, comeon, when's the last time you had a police report of someone getting an whooping with a wooden weapon?

Actually a study group did supposedly get guns pulled on them once. The cops were insisting they show the officers how to "unsheath these swords", which were in fact wasters.
