Nice new buckler & shield make from MartonellNero

Postby John_Clements » Thu May 10, 2007 3:11 pm

Fyi. Got some Martellonero shields.

The buckler is excellent. One of the best I have handled. Very nicely done. I’m impressed. The size, weight, design, and the umbo depth as well as handle shape are very good. One piece of the edge trim has to be filed down a bit but its trivial. I feel happy recommending these, they are less than $50 too.

The shield was also very good, one of the best I have seen of this design, either commercially or privately produced. The corner leather pieces were a tad loose, an the hand straps could have been thicker, but otherwise it handled nicely, was comfortable, and very sturdy. Again, I am happy to recommend them.

I can't tell due to the darkness of the imagae...does the handle of the buckler lay flush with the back or does it stand out a bit?

I ordered a buckler from them and it arrived just yesterday. Their website claims a one to two week delivery time, and mine arrived spot on two weeks.

Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to use it yet, but it does seem very solidly contructed. And Greg, the handle is not flush with the buckler, it stands out. It you asked them to customize one for you, they may be amicable, I don't know.

Customer service was great. Very responsive to emails, and they even sent me an email to alert me that the order was taking a little longer to finish than expected (and it still arrived in two weeks).

Full marks, so far!
