Let me add that people attending will need a dagger waster (plastic or wood) for the dagger section, and I would add that having some forearm pads will make four hours of dagger work much easier on your arms. For dagger free play please bring masks, it is too easy to take out someones eye even when using a padded dagger. Padded daggers would also be a good thing to bring for free play, though you can free play with wasters.

Looking forward to this. :)

Brian,

What dimensions should the dagger's be? I have the mats to make both waster and padded and might try my hand at it.

Thanks,
Nate

Hi Nathaniel,

we will be primarily working with rondell type daggers. A good dagger will be long enough to reach your elbow when gripped in an ice pick manner. My dagger waster is about 18 inches overall and has a 12 1/2 inch blade. Those dimensions should put you in the ball park and may be played with to better fit your own arm length. If someone were to buy a plastic rondell dagger from me, they will get one with the same dimensions as my own. I will be putting up pictures and dimensions of my rondell waster on my sales website later this weekend. A simple padded dagger could easily be made in a boffer style. 3/4 inch PVC pipe with end caps on both ends and some foam pipe insulation for the blade with a 1 1/2 inch foam stabbing tip and wrapped with duct tape.

all the best.

Brian,

Thanks - I saw detailed specs on your dagger from your site. I beleive you are the manufacturer of Stew's "darth vader" helm & I saw that at the columbus 1.0 - pretty impressive.

I'll give it a try and if I dont like it mayhaps I'll put in an order.

- Nate

The dagger currently shown on my site is the cross hilted dagger, though it has similar dimensions to my rondell. Yes, I made Stew's helmet and will have mine at this seminar as well.

Ummm,

Rondell daggers have round guards at both the top and the bottom of the hand. Here is a link to a review of one. http://www.myarmoury.com/review_dt2155.html

hope this helps.

I considered mugging Brian for his helm at IG, but there were too many people around. I wouldn't have made it out of the hall.
