Examples of arms and armor from Fischer (picture intensive)

Postby Derek Wassom » Tue Sep 11, 2007 6:45 am

Here are some pictures from my recent trip to Fischer Auction House in Luzern, Switzerland:

Gothic armor, Nuremburg, circa. 1470-1490
On the gorget, breast-plate, rerebraces, left elbow-cop, left vambrace, right gauntlet, cuisses, greaves and sabatons there are Nuremburg guild marks. The sallet, bever, rondels, right elbow-cop, right vambrace, left gauntlet are replacements.

Here is a really cool German ceremonial, parade, or funeral helmet circa 1400. From the Fischer catalog: “…composed of linen and leather, coated with a layer of loam or cement. Floral ornaments and rests of gilding. The visor is formed out of ropes.”

Oh, if I only had more disposable income!

Have you stopped grinning yet from getting to oogle and handle these?
"Do you know how to use that thing?"
"Yes, pointy end goes in the man."
