Damn, those were nice.

I especially appreciate close-ups that you took of hilting of some swords, indicating the quality of construction of that crucial part of the build of a sword.

Thanks!

 Just, . What an opportunity! If only you could have handled just one of those, and not just held them.

Its times like this that I am horribly envious of our European friends. I have looked and looked for any exhibitions around here in Oregon and I have found nothing. Theres plenty of American frontier history here, but nothing related to European arms and armor.

Thank you Derek for letting us share in your amazing experience through pictures, even if it makes us all the more envious. It is reasons like this that I plan to make a long visit to Europe as soon as finances can allow. Whos with me?

Yeah Brent, I feel your pain. Almost every museum I go to here in Wisconsin deals with farming. Or Midwest stuff (even though they are east of the continetal divide). The best I found was in Moorhead, MN. Where a guy built a Viking Longboat, so the built a little museum to go with it, Hjemkomst Heritage Institute. But that is as close as I have gotten to the goldmine that our European comrades can find in their backyard.
