Any ARMA in southern Sweden?

Postby Pierre Mattisson » Thu Jan 24, 2008 11:48 am

Hi!

I've been interested in HEMA since a couple of years ago and started to train a bit, but had a hard time finding practice partners where I used to live. I paused for some time but since I now study at the university in Lund, and I think I read something about a group in Malmö or something like it, it seemed like a good time to begin again in earnest.
But the swedish ARMA site seems to be down, so I haven't a clue if there actually exists a group down here. Does anyone know about that? Any help would be appreciated.

And what happened to the swedish website?

Oh, and by the way, thanks for all your articles, videos and other great work. Keep it up!

/Pierre

Not ARMA, but serious HEMA practitioners in Malmö (and as far as I know, the only HEMA club in that part of the country):

Malmö Historiska Fäktskola

No, they all splintered internally and went their own separate ways some time back.
There's many different groups there now, some of which I understand do not get along at all, while others do.
Do NOT send me private messages via Forum messenger. I NEVER read them. To contact me please use direct email instead.

MHFS (started by ARMA member and published HEMA author David Lindholm btw) are starting up this years term right now, I e-mailed one of the instructors on behalf of a friend of mine (also at Lund uni), and they have 1 or 2 places left, so hurry up and contact them!

And welcome to the HEMA community, in Sweden and worldwide.

There are no ARMA groups in Sweden right now. There used to be, some years ago but they all went different ways when trying to organize themselves into a national organiziation. The problem was all the
"small popes" as we say in sweden ; ), who felt they could do this
"HEMA-thing" on their own, instead of being part of a bigger association
like ARMA.
