Probably the first German longsword public demo in Cantonese

Postby Lance Chan » Sat Mar 01, 2008 11:57 am

We were invited by Dharma Buddhism Association ( http://www.dharma.org.hk ) to perform a demonstration on German longsword swordsmanship. It was probably the first public demonstration narrated in Chinese / Cantonese about this subject in the world. I, Unicorn Poh and Zachary Au Yeung showed the effectiveness of German style longsword fighting to 40 attendees.

Awesome! Can we get a quick overview of the things that were said?

The videos seem fairly long, but a quick

"0:00 - 1:45, introduction and announcements"
"1:46- #;## ..."

would help quite a bit!

This is very cool!

I know growing up watching martial arts movies always made me facinated with the Asian culture, such is why I entered into Asian martial arts (Muay Thai). I have always wondered if in Asia, they may have thought the same about Western culture?

Great vids.

I think the number of western martial arts movies were in less number than Asian martial arts. I don't see the degree of fascination here for medieval swordsmanship being the same with the other Asian cultures swordsmanship. Perhaps we should have more western swordsman movies made in the future to turn the tide? :P
