Or you can zwerch against and incoming zwerch (going underneath it). If you like I can provide some quotes from Meyer on the 2 above points.

Using a verticle strike to counter a Zwerch is also described in Goliath. The beauty of this counter is that it leads into the Zwerch-to-Zwerch counter. Since your verticle cut knocks the adversary's blade down during his first Zwerch if he cuts a second Zwerch to the other side it will most likely take a path higher than horizontal. Given the position of your sword after making the verticle strike to counter the first Zwerch it is most like that if you throw a Zwerch at the adversary that your blade will follow a path lower than horizontal and thus go under his blade, countering his second Zwerch.

That's a good thought Ran.I'll have to work that as soon as I can get some more training partners here in VAB.
I typically cut down onto the zwerch near the strong and bind it down on the other guys outside and twitch off with a false edge cut that is either a zwerch to the other side or maybe a schiller to the head or other high opening on the guys inside. Not very technical, but I can do it at speed in freeplay without thinking most of the time...
