If this event is in June then I'll be able to attend, I will be unable to if it is in July, as I will be gone all of that month and part of August. I'm hoping a date for this event gets settled soon so I have time to plan. Hope to see you all there.

Unfortunately, I've just had some very expensive car trouble. So unless this gets postponed to much later like Autumn I'm probably not going to be able to make it.

I'd like to try to find someone in Western WA to carpool with. We decide which one of us drives, meet up at the most convenient location, split the gas and hotel costs and both get to go to the Seattle event. Is there anyone in Moses Lake, Kenewick, Lewiston, or possibly even Spokane who would be interested? If so send me a PM.
Respectfully,

Ben Smith

Finally!!!

In case anyone was wondering why Ben is asking for carpoolers for Seattle, looks like we've finally nailed down a date for the Seattle NTP.

Quote from Christopher Eastwood;

----------------------
"OK. Stew's nuptials are all over now and we can finally start pinning down a date for this thing. Stew has suggested August 15-16. It will consist of, at least, a 1.0 class and quite possibly some Sword and Buckler stuff, since Stew is ARMA's foremost authority on that topic.

The cost will be no more than absolutely necessary, definitely no more than $100 (and that's a high estimate). A lot of that depends on the venue, so I'll be checking around on that.

I need TWO pieces of information:

1) Does August 15-16 work for everyone?

and

2) Are you coming?

The second question will help me in estimating the costs for this shindig, as we will have to spread the cost of renting a location among all attendees. We also might get some ARMAteers coming from Portland, Canada, Idaho, and Montana."
----------------------

So, if those dates look good for you ARMA members and you are close enough to attend, please PM myself or Christopher to let us know and so we can add you to the list.

Any one coming from the East (I-90, Spokane, etc.) go ahead and include a PM to Ben or Stew as well for carpool info.

And sorry for the long wait to all who had planned to attend on the original suggested dates this Spring.

Cheers!

Ken

Sounds good to me. I should be able to go if that is the date.

This is great news, we have been waiting for this news for a while. I know some of us here in Portland are interested, we will discuss our availability and let you all know as soon as possible what our plans are. I hope we can account for several participants from our neck of the woods. Do you have any information on exactly where the NTP will be held and do we want to try and coordinate hotel/motel space as a group?

Hey Eric, glad to have you. Are you still in Chico? That's a lengthy trip.

Brent, we'll have more details on that sort of thing once we locate a decent venue. First have to find the place to hold the event, then we can plan where to keep people.

Back with more news soon.

Cheers!

Are there any updates to the seminar? Anything regarding time, place, cost and details of the event? Any info you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Okay, first bit of news has to do with the event itself.

Due to the large number of first year scholars, and therefore the lack of acquired materials and gear (specifically short swords and bucklers) the second day has been dropped from the schedule and there will NOT be any Sword and Buckler portion. Friday's part of the event has been moved to Saturday and there will be no second day. It is now only a one day event!

So, I repeat to all those who are interested in coming to this NTP 1.0 event in Seattle, it will be ONLY the NTP 1.0 on Saturday the 16th of August.

We apologize if this effects you plans, enthusiasm or participation in any way. However, we will be having the S&B workshop, possibly with a 2.0, in the very near future, most likely once a majority of the newbs acquire more gear. ;-)

So, one more time;
Seattle NTP 1.0 is most definitely on Saturday, the 16th of August.
For trip planning purposes, it will be held in the vicinity east of Seattle or Issaquah Washington, somewhere around the I-90 and SR-18 junction.

Seattle Event

Postby Christopher Eastwood » Wed Jul 23, 2008 7:56 pm

OK, I'm sorry for the late notice on this, but I just finished taking the bar exam today (Yea! Wish me luck) and haven't had much time to update everyone on the event.

First major announcement, I guess Ken already mentioned... we've decided to cut it back to just a one day event on SATURDAY Aug 16th with Stew giving a 1.0. Most members in the Seattle group have not had the opportunity to attend a 1.0 before, so we figured it would be best if we trimmed it down to make sure everyone who wanted to could attend. Plus, like Ken said, equipment had become and issue.

Next, we finally have a venue nailed down in the Redmond area near Seattle. The final price for the event is going to be $75, some of you have already sent in more and I will be reimbursing you the difference (if we get even more attendees due to these changes, you may even get some of the $75 back. No guarantees on that, though). For those who have not registered, go ahead and do so now by either sending me check or money order (payable to "Christopher Eastwood") at: PO Box 654 Cle Elum, WA 98922 or by send your payment via paypal to ceastwood@americanfreemen.org.

Because of the late notice, I'm going to hold open registration for at least another week.

Finally, as per John's request I am reminding everyone that you MUST be a paying ARMA member in order to attend the 1.0. If your membership has lapsed, renew it ASAP. If you know someone from your area who is attending, remind them of this requirement.

Thanks and I hope to see many of you there.

Oh, I forgot to mention... if you are worried about a place to stay, send me an e-mail and I will put you in contact with ARMA members in the area to see if you can sack out on a floor or spare bedroom or couch.

Dang, I somehow missed this post and only found out when I saw Ken's post on the Arma Seattle site.

My registration check went out today, Christopher... I hope I'm still getting in under the wire...? You should have it by early next week I should think.

Looking forward to it!

Excellent NTP!

Thank You for setting this up ARMA Seattle.

Thank You Stewart Feil for your insights and enthusiasm. This was high quality instruction, and I look forward to a class on sword and buckler taught by you.

It was nice to finally meet some other ARMA members and see what everyone else is learning.
